Your German course
Which German courses does ZUB Deutsch offer?
We offer German courses from A1 to C1. You can choose from intensive courses, evening courses, on-site courses and selected online courses.
We also offer special German courses for doctors, with preparation for the medical language exam (Fachsprachprüfung, FSP), and for nurses and carers, plus focused exam preparation.
Which German course is right for me?
If you have already learned German but do not know your current level exactly, you can take our free placement test.
That way we find out which course suits your German best.
I have never learned German. Do I need a placement test?
No. If you do not know any German yet, you can start straight away with an A1 course.
When do the next German courses start?
Our German courses start several times a year in fixed course blocks.
You will find the current start dates on each course's page on our website.
Can I book several course levels in a row?
Yes. You can book several consecutive course levels, for example A2, B1, B2 and C1.
That way you can plan your whole learning path at ZUB Deutsch early on.
Registration & payment
How can I register for a German course?
Registration is simple and happens online.
Choose the course you want on our website and click “Register now”. You are then guided through the registration process step by step.
How much does a German course cost?
The price depends on the type of course and the level.
You will find the current price on each course's page on our website.
How can I pay for my course?
The booking process shows you the available payment methods. There you can choose the one that suits you.
When is my registration binding?
When you complete the booking, you make a binding registration for the course you selected. You will receive all further information about payment and your course as part of your registration.
Our current General Terms and Conditions (AGB) govern the details.
Learning at ZUB
Can I get to know ZUB Deutsch before I register?
Yes. You can first get to know our classes in a free trial lesson.
That gives you a first impression of our classes, our teachers and the learning atmosphere at ZUB Deutsch.
Are there on-site and online courses?
Yes. At ZUB Deutsch you can learn on site in Bochum or, for selected courses, online.
You can see which format is available on each course's page.
Are there courses in the morning, afternoon and evening?
Yes. We offer different course times so that you can fit your German course around your everyday life, your studies or your work as well as possible.
Depending on the courses on offer, you can learn in the mornings, afternoons or evenings.
How long is a teaching unit?
One teaching unit (Unterrichtseinheit, UE) lasts 45 minutes.
You will find the number of teaching units and the exact class times on your course's page.
How big are the groups?
We want you to be able to speak a lot in class, take an active part and get personal guidance.
That is why learning groups of a manageable size and a personal learning atmosphere matter to us.
Visa & residence
Can I book a German course at ZUB Deutsch for my visa?
Yes. At ZUB Deutsch you can book intensive courses for your planned stay in Germany.
After your binding registration and full payment, you will receive an official registration confirmation from us for the German courses you booked. You can submit it to the competent German embassy or consulate as proof for your visa application.
The decision on whether to grant the visa rests exclusively with the competent authority.
When will I receive my registration confirmation?
After you have paid in full for the courses you booked, we issue your registration confirmation and send it to you digitally by email.
What is in my registration confirmation?
The registration confirmation contains the most important information about your course booking, including the course levels you booked, the dates of those courses and details of the classes.
How many courses do I need to book for my visa application?
That depends on the period for which you need proof of a language course.
The exact requirements can differ depending on the visa and your personal situation. So please check with the competent German embassy or immigration office (Ausländerbehörde) before you book.
What happens if my visa is delayed?
If your visa is not issued in time, that is not a problem. Please contact us as early as possible. We can move your place to the next available course block.
Our current Terms and Conditions govern the transfer.
What happens if my visa is refused?
If your visa has been refused, please send us the official refusal notice from the competent authority.
After checking the documents, we will refund the course fee you have already paid, minus a processing fee of €99.

University & exams
Do your German courses prepare me for studying in Germany?
Yes. We guide international learners on their language journey in Germany, from their first German course to preparing for university, training and a career.
Does ZUB Deutsch offer exam preparation?
Yes. We offer focused preparation for telc and similar German exams.
You get to know how the exam is structured, practise typical tasks and develop strategies for your exam.
Which German exam do I need to study in Germany?
That depends on your university or other higher education institution and on your degree programme.
For example, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, TestDaF or DSH are often accepted as proof of language ability.
Please check directly with your university which proof of language ability you need for your degree programme.
German for your profession
Is there a German course for doctors?
Yes. Our course “German for doctors – FSP preparation” is aimed at international doctors.
You train specifically for the language demands of everyday medical work and prepare for the medical language exam (Fachsprachprüfung, FSP).
Is there a German course for nurses and carers?
Yes. We offer a special German course for international nurses and carers.
You learn important language structures, specialist terms and typical communication situations that you need in your day-to-day work in care.
